BOV making strides in Gender Equality
17 Nov 2021

As a leader in Malta’s financial services sector, Bank of Valletta is committed to create and uphold a diverse and inclusive workplace as part of its strategy by creating an equal opportunities workplace where people of all genders, ages, race and religions can contribute towards the institution’s success and be part of its decision making process.

‘Gender equality is a critical factor that will strengthen our success, and we are deeply committed to take gender equality forward through the introduction of plethora of strategic initiatives bespoke to this drive.’ This was stated by Dr Vanessa Borg, Chief People and Change Officer at Bank of Valletta. ‘A recent report ranked Malta in 13th place in the EU Gender Equality index stating that Malta lacks women in positions of power.’

‘Bank of Valletta is committed towards gender equality and currently has the highest female representation ever on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee with 3 female members on the Board of Directors as well as 3 female representatives forming part of the Bank’s C-Suite,’ continued Dr Borg.

‘We are working every day to achieve real equality among our professionals. These efforts are reflected in our numbers with 36% of our positions in senior management and 52% of lower management positions held by women from an overall workforce where 55% are female,’ continued Dr Borg. ‘The Bank’s confidence in women’s decision-making abilities is definitely evident across it’s branch network, with 18 of them being led by women.’

‘Achieving gender diversity is key to success in today’s world,’ continued Dr Borg. ‘A diverse workforce signals an attractive work environment for talent, which is totally aligned to our employer branding strategy.’
